Six Flags parks nationwide announced their new-for-2024 attractions today, revealing that Six Flags over Texas will see a new spin on an old favorite.

Per the press release:

Six Flags Over Texas – The world’s first log flume now becomes one of the world’s longest log flumes in 2024. The new El Rio Lento will feature one new lift hill and two big drops including a giant, steep nosedive to add to the fun. It’s a family fun ride for thrill seekers of all ages!

Though official details are currently lacking, it certainly sounds like El Rio Lento (the lazy river) will combine El Aserradero’s flumes 1 and 2 into a single, continuous course, while redoing at least one of the drops to be taller (30 ft per ride stats) and steeper.

The current, estimated* lengths of flumes 1 and 2 are 1300 ft and 1286 ft, which if somehow directly combined (with no added length) would be a minimum of 2586 ft long.

Guide to SFoT will continue to follow the development and construction of the new attraction, so be sure to check back often!

*Ride lengths were conservatively estimated using path measurements in Google Earth, which does not account for the added length from the flume’s elevation changes
