Flash Pass

The Six Flags over Texas Flash Pass is a virtual queueing system, allowing guests to wait in an attraction’s queue virtually while enjoying other park attractions. Users can multitask—riding other rides, enjoying a snack, or seeing a show—instead of physically waiting in line for a popular attraction.

The Flash Pass can be pre-purchased online or at the Flash Pass window in the Star Mall entry plaza.

How the Flash Pass Works

The Flash Pass is an optional upcharge add-on. Park admission is not included and a mobile device is required.

Using their mobile device, Flash Pass users will see a list of Flash Pass-enabled rides and the queue times, corresponding to the actual approximate queue time. Selecting a ride will let their group virtually enter the queue, displaying a time to arrive at the attraction and bypass a majority of the queue (there is still usually a short line at the ride station for various seats).

In addition to virtual queueing, higher tiers of the Flash Pass also significantly reduce wait times.

Flash Pass Tiers

Six Flags over Texas offers three versions of standard Flash Passes (not including the Flash Pass Junior). Higher tier levels can significantly reduce or eliminate the length of the ride’s virtual queue. For 2024, Flash Passes starts at $40-125 per person and change due to variable pricing.

*Prices are general base costs and can significantly vary throughout the year based on expected crowd levels and Flash Pass demand. Check official website for actual pricing on specific dates.

Flash Pass Junior

The Flash Pass Junior is a less-expensive version of the Flash Pass aimed at families that won’t be using it for the popular thrill rides. Flash Pass Junior is eligible for certain Flash Pass rides, listed below.

There are 2 tiers of Flash Pass Junior: Premium and Ultimate, which reduce virtual queue times by 50% and 90+% respectively.

Flash Pass FAQs

Is the Flash Pass Worth It?

Sometimes, absolutely. Othertimes, no. Obviously if the park is empty and wait times are already non-existent, a Flash Pass is not going to provide any benefits. Even though they can be pre-purchased online, we generally recommend waiting until arriving at the park and getting a feel of the crowds before buying a Flash Pass. The exception is if you’re confident the park will be busy during your visit; for example, during a special event or holiday.

In terms of their value, Flash Passes are surely worth more for one-time visitors or out-of-towners who want to do as much as possible in a single trip, especially a trip that may have been constrained into being on a busy day.

Our take: only get the Flash Pass if you’ve seen the long lines or are fairly confident that the park will be crowded. And if you’re already going to spend the money on a Flash Pass, why not spend a little more and get a Premium or Ultimate version so that your wait time is shortened?

Do I Need a Phone to use Flash Pass?

Yes, a smart phone is required for Flash Pass because your device is the Flash Pass.

Earlier iterations of Flash Pass used physical electronic devices that would be scanned by Flash Pass workers. The park has since transitioned to using guests’ mobile devices as the Flash Pass.
