Six Flags over Texas formally announced their plans for 2024 today, confirming rumors that have been floating around enthusiast groups for several weeks.

The park’s children area Bugs Bunny Boomtown will see the most attention, first with a brand new attraction: Sylvester and Tweety Pounce and Bounce, a 40ft-tall family drop tower for those not quite ready to brave Superman Tower of Power. The ride will gently bounce riders up and down the tower.

Removed back in 2021, Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters will return to the Bugs Bunny Boomtown. The popular spinning attraction let riders control water blasters for an interactive, wet experience.

And finally, the historic Chaparral Antique Cars will be revamped into Dino Off Road Adventure this summer with new vehicles, a re-themed queue, and 13 animatronic dinosaurs lining the track. This last attraction, which was all but confirmed at this point, already has some bemoaning the change which will (at least temporarily) replace the park’s second-oldest attraction with a somewhat bizarre dinosaur theme, not befitting the Texas area‘s theme in which it’s being placed. Fear not, however, as justice seekers have already created internet petitions to protest against the change (571 signatures at the time of this writing). It’s a safe bet the new attraction will be similar to SFNE’s identically-named ride.

The park also has other smaller improvements planned, such as converting the Boomtown Bar into a permanent structure (the tent of which was removed late last year) and adding theming elements to Batman and Mr. Freeze queues.

Not mentioned in the park’s press release below, but essentially confirmed nevertheless, is the cancellation of El Rio Lento, the park’s initial new-for-2024 plan to combine both log flumes into 1 with bigger and steeper drops. The plan was reportedly scrapped once deemed unfeasible and references to it were quietly removed from the Six Flags site, leading park enthusiasts left wondering if the park was doing anything for 2024.

Six Flags Over Texas Announces New Family Ride, a Returning Favorite and the Retheming of a Classic Attraction

Further Improvements Include Ride Queue Theming and a New Bar Structure

ARLINGTON, Texas – February 19, 2024 – Six Flags Over Texas, the Thrill Capital of Texas, today announced new park enhancements for the 2024 season. One new ride, Sylvester and Tweety Pounce and Bounce, and one returning ride, Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters, will be coming to the Bugs Bunny Boomtown section of the park Memorial Day weekend. A retheming of the classic Chaparral Antique Cars into Dino Off Road Adventure will follow later in the summer.

Additional park enhancements include new theming elements in the queues for BATMAN™ : The Ride and MR. FREEZE™ , and the building of a permanent structure for the Boomtown Bar.

“For 63 years, generations of guests have come to the park to have fun and experience thrills with their families,” says Park President Richard Douaihy. “We’re so pleased that these new attractions will offer our guests the opportunity to make even more memories with the people who matter most.”

The new attractions include:

  • Sylvester and Tweety Pounce and Bounce is a family drop tower that lifts riders 41 feet in the air before beginning a sequence of downward pounces and upward bounces;
  • Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters is a spinning ride that features water blasters on its bucket-shaped guest compartments so riders can spray each other while the ride is in motion. It is returning to the park after a three-year absence. The ride was removed in 2021 during the construction of AQUAMAN™: Power Wave and is now making its triumphant return;
  • Dino Off Road Adventure will revamp the second-oldest attraction in the park with new cars, a redecorated queue, and 13 dinosaur animatronics along the ride’s route.
