Viva la Fiesta, running weekends from April 24 through May 16, is a celebration of “Latin culture through food, live music, dance, and other experiences” as the park puts it. This new event is continuing the park’s (and new park president Ron McKenzie) trend of offering nearly-continuous new events and reasons to return to the park.

Casa Magnetica Returns

The favorite on-again, off-again (but mostly off) walk-through attraction Casa Magnetica has finally returned for Viva la Fiesta. The park obviously put a lot of work into restoring parts of the physics-defying spectacle, as well as adding new touches such as a pre-show.

Specialty Food

One recurring theme to Six Flags’ festivals are specialty foods, offered at both permanent Six Flags food stands and temporary third-party vendors.

Viva la Fiesta Entertainment

Scattered throughout the park are stages setup for shows, entertainers, and photo ops.

Merchandise and Theming

Not only is there plenty of event theming throughout the park for immersion’s sake (as well as latin music pumping through the speakers rather than the generic pop music of recent years), special merchandise is also up for grabs.

Ongoing Improvements

As mentioned, new park president Ron McKenzie seems to be bent on getting as much fixed around the park as possible, including many of the long-broken fountains.
