El Diablo
El Diablo was a Texas-sized version of the “Fireball” or “Ring of Fire” loop rides often seen at carnivals. The giant 100-foot loop towered over the Mexico and Spain section as trains of 32 passengers would rock back and forth, building up speed before looping, stalling at the top, and reversing direction.
Originally announced as Lone Star Revolution in 2018, El Diablo was originally planned for the Tower section of the park. The park abruptly changed direction for the ride in 2019, renaming it and changing its location to the Mexico & Spain section of the park. Rumors pointed to the park being concerned over its initial planned location being prone to flooding, particularly after a flood took Yosemite Sam’s permanently out of commission toward the end of 2018.
Though the park originally marketed the ride as “Six Flags over Texas’ 14th roller coaster,” few (if any) theme park enthusiasts or experts considered the Fireball/Ring of Fire a roller coaster since it has no turns and does not rely on gravity (the train is powered at all times).
Six Flags over Texas began dismantling El Diablo along with La Vibora in early November 2024 to make way for a new-for-2026 attraction.

Even though I just started riding you this summer, I will never forget you. You were also one of my highlight rides. Even though you were here for a very short amount of time, I guess this will be the end of the road for you. You will be greatly missed, and loved by everyone no matter what they say. I guess it is time to say…Goodbye 🙁
