Two Hours for Tormenta? How to Beat the Fright Fest Lines

Two Hours for Tormenta? How to Beat the Fright Fest Lines

Oct 23, 2026 | Park Articles | 0 comments

As we enter the final two weekends of Six Flags Over Texas’ Fright Fest, we’ve been watching the crowds build steadily since the event began in September. And as spooky as the sliders and zombies are, we personally find a 3-hour ride line way scarier.

So is there a “best time” to ride the major rides at the park, even when there are massive crowds? We took to analyzing the data to see.

The Methodology

We already post the live wait times/statuses for every attraction as reported by the park, but we’ve also been logging the wait times for each attraction every 10 minutes for months. Over 15,000 data entries during Fright Fest weekends so far this year were then analyzed for wait trends (via Claude), with more recent weekends weighted heavier to better reflect the increasing crowds as we approach Halloween.

Below are the results for the 8 attractions with the longest lines, and the best historical time to ride each to minimize the wait.

Crowd trends during Fright Fest 2026

As expected, crowds during Fright Fest have steadily climbed since the event began. The chart shows a big dip over the Oct. 2-4 weekend due to bad weather.

Ride Times by Day

Next we can take a look at the typical wait times by day, since they vary significantly between Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Click a ride to toggle it on the charts.

Takeaways

There is no big secret to avoiding lines during Fright Fest, which continues to prove itself as the park’s busiest event. However, if you’re going primarly to check out the haunted mazes, scare zones, and seasonal shows, use these general tips to minimize the wait times:

  • Get to the park at opening and ride early – lines steadily climb all day and into the evening since Fright Fest obviously hits peak popularity in the dark
  • Do Tormenta first – Tormenta’s line climbs steadily throughout the day, though it sometimes has a small lull around 4-5pm
  • Fridays are the best bet – the first two hours after the park’s 5pm opening have most rides with wait times under 15 minutes
  • Consider getting Fast Lane
