Aquaman: Power Wave

The first of its kind in North America, Aquaman: Power Wave is an innovative blend of water ride and roller coaster. Aquaman: Power Wave magnetically launches a 20-passenger boat back and forth at speeds reaching 63 mph on a stretch of track between two vertical towers. During the final pass-through, water fills a splashdown pool creating a finale that soaks both riders and bystanders alike.

Opened on March 11, 2023, Aquaman: Power Wave took over the area in the USA section formerly occupied by Aquaman: Splashdown. Aquaman was originally planned to debut in 2020 but the global Covid-19 pandemic shuttered the park for a portion of the year and slowed (and eventually halted) construction on the new attraction. Later the park decided to add a turntable further delaying its opening until spring 2023.

Loading System

Aquaman: Power Wave features a turntable loading system, allowing one boat to unload and load new guests while the other runs its course on the ride. The same loading system was on Aquaman’s predecessor and first Mack PowerSplash ride — Pulsar at Walibri Belgium.

As it was initially announced, Aquaman: Power Wave did not include the turntable loading system (presumably related to its additional cost). After Covid had already delayed Aquaman’s opening, former park president Ron McKenzie decided to further delay the ride to implement changes and incorporate the turntable. The long-term capacity boost and reduction in wait times is undoubtedly worth the delay.

You are likely to get moderately wet on Aquaman Power Wave. The front row of the boat seems to get hit with the most water. If you want to get soaked, stand in the splash zone by the ride’s entrance.
