Brief updates and happenings around Six Flags over Texas

Tormenta Opens to the Public

Tormenta Rampaging Run has finally opened to the masses as of this morning with the public grand opening ceremony. This massive new signature ride represents renewed investment in the original Six Flags park.

Tormenta Soft Opening

The park is currently letting season passholders and members ride Tormenta Rampaging Run as part of “technical rehearsals” according to signs at the front of the park today (July 3). The signs emphasize the ride may operate intermittently, so riders shouldn’t necessarily expect a guaranteed ride. The official public grand opening remains to be July 9.

New Tormenta Opening Date Announced

After a brief setback, the much-anticipated Tormenta Rampaging Run is once again set to open to the public on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Are you ready to tame the bull?

Tormenta Opening Delayed

Less than a week after announcing Tormenta’s grand opening for Friday, June 26, Six Flags Over Texas has just issued a statement stating the ride’s  “commissioning and testing process is taking longer than expected,” and that a new opening date will be revealed once it’s ready. This comes as park visitors reportedly did not see the coaster testing over the weekend, fueling the speculative fire for the highly anticipated ride.

Sections of Park Flood During Rainy Weekend

SFOT’s 2026 Memorial Day Weekend took a pause Sunday as thunderstorms moved through Arlington, generating a blast of rainfall that flooded sections of the park per Social Media posts. Even the newly-renovated Southern Palace was not immune, with video showing water leaking in both front and back-of-house areas. The park is no stranger to flooding, with Johnson Creek typically being the culprit.
