Ever since the announcement dropped for Six Flags and Cedar Fair theme park chains merging late last year, one of the main questions passholders have had was how it would impact season passes and memberships. Wonder no more, as this article will dive into all the details and changes Six Flags over Texas visitors can expect for the new theme park superchain.

Season Pass Changes

Starting in 2025, the three tiers (Gold/Platinum/Diamond) of Six Flags season passes are no more. Only 2 will be offered: Gold and Prestige.

A 2025 Gold Pass—listed at $69 but on-sale for $65 at the time of writing—is essentially equivalent to the 2024 Platinum Pass (which was ~$120), in that both offer unlimited visits to Six Flags over Texas and Hurricane Harbor for the season. The food and merchandise discount on the 2025 Gold Pass is 10%, whereas the 2024 Platinum Pass was at 15% and included a skip-the-line pass. General parking is still included.

The higher-tier 2025 Prestige Pass—listed at $170 but on-sale for $119 at the time of writing—is comparable to the 2024 Diamond Pass, upgrading the offerings to preferred parking and 1 skip-the-line pass per visit instead of 4 passes for the season. While the Diamond Pass had a 20% food & merch discount, the Prestige Pass has been downsized to 15%.

Perhaps the biggest change, however, is that neither pass automatically includes admission to other Six Flags (or Cedar Fair) parks. For that, you’ll need the…

All Park Passport

Six Flags All Park Passport logo

Gone are the days where your Six Flags season pass works at other Six Flags parks by default. Instead, you’ll need to purchase an All Park Passport add-on for admission to other Six Flags parks, and Cedar Fair parks starting January 6, 2025. The All Park Passport is a $120 upgrade for the Gold Pass and a $350 upgrade for the Prestige Pass.

8/18/2024 Update: Well that didn’t take long. Six Flags has since revised pricing for the All Park Passport for the Prestige Pass from $350 to a much more reasonable $205. We have revised pricing throughout this article, assuming this is not a temporary discount.

The All Park Passport will admit guests to legacy Six Flags parks including:

  • Six Flags America (Bowie, MD)
  • Six Flags Darien Lake (Darien, NY)
  • Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (Vallejo, CA)
  • Six Flags Fiesta Texas (San Antonio, TX)
  • Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ)
  • Six Flags Great America (Gurnee, IL)
  • Six Flags Great Escape (Queensbury, NY)
  • Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia, CA)
  • Six Flags Mexico (Mexico City, MX)
  • Six Flags New England (Agawam, MA)
  • Six Flags Over Georgia (Austell, GA)
  • Six Flags Over Texas (Arlington, TX)
  • Six Flags St. Louis (Eureka, MO)
  • Frontier City (Oklahoma City, OK)
  • La Ronde (Montreal, QC)
  • Hurricane Harbor Arlington (Arlington, TX)

  • “And More!”

Six Flags Plus is No More

The new Six Flags has ended the Six Flags Plus membership program, instead offering monthly membership options for the Gold and Prestige tiers with the same perks as season passes. The Gold Membership is $6.99/month whereas the Prestige Membership is $12.99/month. Either membership requires a $20 non-refundable initiation fee and a 12-month minimum commitment, similar to previous membership programs.

The All Park Passport add-on is also available for both membership tiers, but oddly still requires it to be purchased all-at-once for that year, so the same $120/$205 upcharge for the Gold/Prestige tiers is applicable.

What about Legacy Memberships?

Legacy memberships continue to survive, despite being discontinued in January 2022. The All Park Passport upgrade for legacy memberships is reportedly $99, though it’s not explicitly clear (anywhere we could find) if the add-on is needed to continue to visit other Six Flags parks or if it’s just to add admission for legacy Cedar Fair parks.

Takeaways

The new pricing and admission strategy for the combined mega-chain is sure to be appealing to some and off-putting for others, depending on if and how often they visit other parks.

For guests who only visit Six Flags over Texas, the Gold Pass (or membership) pricing is a steal. At a lower cost than 2024’s Gold Pass, the 2025 Gold Pass removes blackout dates, adds admission to Hurricane Harbor, and adds general parking.

For guests that visited Six Flags over Texas and other Six Flags parks, like nearby Fiesta Texas, a Gold Pass with the All Park Passport will run at $189 before tax—basically the same as a 2024 Diamond Pass minus the preferred parking and some of the other perks.

Things start to get a little weird, however, with Prestige Pass pricing, especially when factoring in the All Park Passport (APP) option. If you want access to all parks, a full-priced Gold Pass with APP runs $189, but a Prestige Pass with APP balloons to $520 $324 (per the pricing update on 8/18; see note above). Is it worth a 175% 71% increase to get Preferred Parking, an extra 5% in food & merch discounts, a skip-the-line pass with each visit, and access to a VIP entrance? Only you can make that decision.

Passholders and members will probably want to do their own analysis to see if the All Park Passport add-on is actually worth it for them. If you don’t plan on visiting many other parks, it may entirely be cost-advantageous to skip the add-on and buy regular tickets at the other parks.
