Casa de las Banderas serves up a variety of street tacos and several grab-and-go options like Southwestern salads and fruit in the Mexico & Spain section of the park. In the dining location’s outdoor bar (nicknamed Casa Bar), guests can order beer, margaritas, sangria, and wine while watching live games and events.
History
The building Casa de las Banderas currently occupies has had a long history at the park. El Chico opened its 11th Mexican restaurant as one of the park’s original restaurants in 1961. Despite being open only 7 months out of the year, Six Flags over Texas’ El Chico location had the chain’s highest sales volume. More significantly, the park’s El Chico was also responsible for introducing thousands of visitors from around the world to Tex-Mex food — then still relatively unknown.
El Chico eventually moved out, with Casa de las Banderas replacing the building’s name. Eddie Deen’s catering ran the restaurant in the early 2000s before the park closed the location for several years. It was occasionally used by “Breakfast with Bug’s” special event where kids ate with the Looney Tunes character.
