Six Flags over Texas confirmed Monday on social media that Mr. Freeze would indeed be closing after September 11th, but emphasized the closure will be temporary.

Rumors began flowing after the park showed a cryptic slide during a presentation at ACE’s annual Lone Star Coasterthon event, stating 9/11/22 would be the “last day” to ride Mr. Freeze .
Though the park hasn’t confirmed what actually is happening to Freeze, theories in the coaster community include:
- Refurbishing the ride/queue
- Re-theming the ride (though it was just repainted back to its near-original blue-on-blue paint scheme)
- Replacing the LIMs with more energy-efficient LSMs
- Removing the ride altogether (thrown around prior to the park’s clarification post, but seemingly disproven now)
