Pink Thing fans can rejoice — the treat’s familiar flavor is back at Six Flags over Texas! As we explored in our last Pink Thing article, the frozen novelty’s classic flavor disappeared in 2011 with a generically-flavored, pale, pink, Push-Up pop replacing the iconic treat. Then in 2018, Pink Thing-inspired Dippin’ Dots replaced the Push-Up version.

But we can happily report that the classic Pink Thing look and flavor is now back for the first time in 8 years at Six Flags over Texas, albeit in a different form.

Blue Bell is now producing a new Pink Thing ice cream which is available at the park’s Smith Street Ice Cream Parlor in a cone, cup, float, or shake. For years Blue Bell had also manufactured the popular previous version of the Pink Thing (which they called the “Buried Treasure bar”) before discontinuing it due to relatively low volumes. Perhaps the change to bulk-packed ice cream tubs makes its efficient manufacture possible again.

The taste and color of the Pink Thing ice cream is spot-on when compared to the older inverted, wedge-shaped novelties. The only obvious difference is that instead of it coming on a plastic stick with an unknown figurine buried within, it’s scoopable ice cream.

Fans of the Pink Thing missing the classic ambiguous taste of the frozen treat should meet their fix with the new Blue Bell-produced ice cream available now at the park’s Smith Street Ice Cream Parlor (formerly Cold Stone and Ben and Jerry’s) in the Old South & France section.
