What to Expect at Holiday in the Park 2025

Nov 22, 2025 | Park Articles | 0 comments

Six Flags Over Texas launched its Holiday in the Park tradition way back in 1985, making 2025 the event’s 40th anniversary. And while we continue witnessing unprecedented levels of investment for the original Six Flags park—in the form of Tormenta and countless other improvement/refurbishment projects throughout—Six Flags over Texas promises enhancements will also be a part of this year’s Holiday in the Park.

Guide to SFoT was invited to a special, limited media preview of the event which officially kicks off Sunday, November 23 and runs through January 4. In addition to the millions of Christmas lights and thousands of decorations mentioned in the press release, here is some of what you can expect at the 40th annual Holiday in the Park celebration:

Activities & Attractions

No visit to Holiday in the Park is complete without a trip to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus himself. At St. Nick’s Pics in the Old South section, kids can tell their wishes to the big man himself (professional photo packages are available for an additional fee).

Strolling along Merry Main Street (the area between Texas and Old South), guests will see regular ‘snowfalls’, a Christmastime Keepsakes Store, and a variety of specialty food offerings. Between the decorations, lights, and ongoing refurbishment of historic structures, this area is especially magical.

Be sure to stop in Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen to buy a cookie decorating kit or a s’mores kit for roasting marshmallows over one of the wood-burning fires scattered throughout the park.

Food and Beverages

Throughout the park are special food and beverage offerings, with many being located along the Merry Main Street. For a full menu, visit our Holiday in the Park guide.

Entertainment

Holiday in the Park has entertainment options for all ages. Kids will enjoy the Looney Tunes Holidaze Dance Party and Storytime with Mrs. Claus, taking place in Texas Arcade (where the petting zoo was in recent years’ events).

The entire family will enjoy the brief Christmas Tree lighting ceremony performance at the entrance, the MistleTones show in the Crazy Horse Saloon, and the Twas’ a Merry Mishap comedic retelling of the Twas’ the Night Before Christmas on the Courthouse Stage. Holly Jolly Trolley is another classical music performance on the Six Flags Universe stage.

However the big draw for 2025 is sure to be the all-new Tinker’s Toy Factory taking place in the Southern Palace Theater. This show combines a large cast of singing/dancing characters mixed with cirque-style acrobatic acts.

What Else to Expect

While our Holiday in the Park preview consisted of a small area of the park, the rest of the park will of course be accessible when it reopens to the public on Sunday, November 23. Based on past Holiday in the Parks, the park is rarely 100% finished with decorations by the start of the event, and we expect that will be the case this year too. After all, it’s a significant effort converting the park from Fright Fest to Holiday in the Park in just a few short weeks. Keep that in mind if you go early in the event, though the areas we saw were indeed already heavily themed.

Holiday in the Park remains our favorite time of the year to visit the park, between the decor, milder weather, and specialty food and entertainment. It’s definitely worth a visit, and generally coincides with deeply-discounted admission options for year-end season pass sales.
