Conquistador
Conquistador was a classic swinging ship ride, simulating an ocean voyage on rough seas by swinging riders to dizzying heights back and forth (but not actually inverting like some rides did). The ship was themed to a Spanish galleon, making it fit perfectly in the Spain section of the park.
Closure
The Conquistador ride closed in 2025 as the park removed La Vibora and El Diablo as part of the New for 2026 coaster.
Six Flags over Texas reportedly had full intentions to keep the swinging ship ride around, preserving it while demolishing much of the surrounding Spain area. However the park ultimately reversed course with a September 17th announcement on social media that the 44-year-old attraction would be closing permanently.
It’s possible the ride had reached its operational lifespan or was damaged with the surrounding construction. The announcement predictably caused disappointment from nostalgic fans and families that enjoyed the classic attraction.
