Wildcatter aka Cliff Hanger

Post by joco07 » Sat Dec 11, 2010 12:49 am

Any one miss the Wildcatter? it was a great anticipation ride just waiting to drop. I was so sad when this ride was being removed I LOVED it i liked it more than superman because I think superman did not have the anticipation that the wildcatter did. That ride will be forever remembered in my heart and mind R.I.P Wildcatter

It was really sad even watching the video of it coming down. I was even mad when they said Tony Hawk was coming why don't they just travel 5 hours down south to ride it. It was one of my Favorite rides at SFOT.

Its so true, but i think it was also destroyed due to cost of running the ride because six flags got rid of all of their 1st generation free fall rides :(

That ride was somewhat known as a maintenance nightmare with all the mechanics at the park. I'm sure that played some role in its eventual removal.

I'm just glad I got to ride it before they got rid of almost all the rest. There's only one left in North America. So if you want your 1st gen freefall fix, head over to Dorney Park!

An Intamin Gyro (Acrophobia from SFOG) was on the table for the replacement, as was the S&S that showed up instead.

I think the Gyro would of been better than Superman, eventhough I've never rode one I did ride Drop Zone at Carowinds, and it packed more of a punch then Superman and it's only a 100 or so feet tall.
