Flashback

Flashback was a shuttle coaster (one that doesn't make a complete circuit) that took riders through three inversions forward, and through the same three inversions again backwards. Placed in the Goodtimes Square section of the park, Flashback was a standard Vekoma boomerang ride, one of the most cloned roller coasters in existence. Although newer boomerang coasters designed by Vekoma use trains built by the same manufacturer, Flashback used older-style trains from Arrow Dynamics.

Ride Experience

After the all-clear signal is given, a specialized catch-car connected to the train and pulled it backwards up the first lift hill. Nearing the top, the train would be released and speed down the steep incline and through the station.

The first inversion element, a cobra roll, turned riders upside-down twice and was quickly followed by a vertical loop. A second lift hill then pulled the train up and acted as its reversing point. Riders were once again released and traveled through the same elements backwards for a grand total of six inversions.

Removal

On August 2, 2012, Six Flags over Texas announced it would permanently close Flashback and Texas Chute Out and to make way for future expansions, including the Texas SkyScreamer swing ride. Flashback's last day of operation at Six Flags over Texas was September 3, 2012.

Rather than being turned into scrap metal like many removed roller coasters, Flashback found a second life by moving to Six Flags St. Louis and reopening there for its 2013 season.

Indeed. Never a big fan of the ride. Trains seemed to make for a rougher ride and whatever replaces it can't be any worse.
